Tooth whitening is an absolutely harmless and a very effective procedure of changing the natural color of your teeth by several shades for better aesthetics. The desired shade is a result of a health risk-free, hydrogen peroxide-based chemical reaction. After application, chemical oxidation occurs on the surface of the treated teeth resulting in a lighter shade.
We use two methods for this procedure: (i) professional (in-office) whitening and (ii) home whitening (splints and home bleach). Professional whitening is the most common method of tooth whitening, which is controlled by a dentist at the office. The dentist applies bleaching substance on the teeth and bleaches them using a special whitening lamp which activates the bleach applied on the teeth. Following completion of the treatment, the teeth will be few shades lighter and the difference can be noticed immediately. In home whitening, a dentist makes a tailored splint(s) and provides home whitening bleach gel that you put into the splint(s) which you then keep on your teeth during the day or overnight. The dentist will provide detailed instructions on how to use the bleaching gel and for how long the splints should be worn, depending on the patient's current dental condition.
Tooth whitening is a quick and easy way to brighten your teeth and enhance your smile.
